mush in the air

...for mush.  back when the husband was still a boyfriend, he bought me this dollar store love is in the air sign one valentine's day to hang in my classroom.  while my fourth graders wanted nothing to do with it, i liked the sentiment.  it now hangs in our kitchen/dining room amongst wedding stuff, and it's a nice daily reminder.  maybe it's less a reminder of love and more a reminder of my ridiculous oversentimentality, but i'm okay with that.

must be italian

...for the giggles when this box was delivered and i immediately thought, "fra-gi-lee."  thank you, christmas story, for humor that never gets old.  even if it's only june. 

smoky mike

...that this was the only damage done in the aftermath of my accidental microwave fire.  unless you count the house smelling like burnt popcorn meets bbq s'mores.  i was only trying to disinfect the sponge.  i guess i'm not an accidental housewife after all. 

ice cream pants

...for color combinations that make me feel a little sassy.  and that none of my students called me "mrs. pistachio" today.

paging donna read

...for a library checkout my husband can totally get behind.  because, just maybe, i accidentally looked underneath our kitchen work table and saw that the steam mop doesn't quiiiite make it all the way back there.  shudder.

she's a lady

...for feeling very ladylike today at work.  somewhere, my grandmother is nodding her head in approval.

buggy love

...that my sunnies had one last week of glory before they broke.  sunglasses, i'm hoping that honeymoon towel animals were on your bucket list.  i'll miss you.  these other ones just aren't the same.

cozy

...to find these ridiculously ugly forgotten cookie monster slippers in my closet.  after several should-be-obvious-but-my-wedding-is-not-the-center-of-other-peoples'-worlds lessons this afternoon, cookie and i are all curled up on the couch.  mutant blue fur and all.   

toning without weights

...for instructional youtube videos.  while watching kandee johnson's diy wedding makeup tutorials (at home or pro?  to smoky eye or not to smoky eye?  decisions, decisions) the other day, she reminded me that i've had this impulse buy bottle of tonor in the back of my makeup cabinet for awhile now.  thanks to kandee, i know now that tonor goes on at night after you've washed your face in order to catch any makeup that didn't come off the first time around.  and surprisingly, there's a lot. 

coupon love

...for holiday coupons of all kinds and amounts.  40% off the craft item of my choice?  25% off a cute but overpriced coach handbag?  free underwear at victoria's secret?  yes, please.  now if wedding vendors would just hop on board this discount love train, i'd be an even happier girl. 

steal the bacon

...for multitaskers in the classroom.  innocent looking whiteboard eraser by morning, intense bacon to be stolen by rowdy middle schoolers after lunch.  also thankful for any silly p.e. game which encourages the use of a whistle.

...for friends who get it.

afternoons

...for reminders that once i'm home, nothing that seemed upsetting four hours ago really deserves any more of my time.  i can choose to waste energy worrying.  or, i can take a nap, read a magazine, and get over it.  

blame it on the rain

...for cozy scarves and cold medicine.  because the only thing worse than rainy day schedule at school is the accompanying rainy day pounding in my sinuses. 

the day after thursday

...for friday.  rebecca black had it right.  awkward and annoying, but right.  oo-ooh-ooh, hoo yeah, yeahyeah.

...that even on a cloudy day like today, i can still enjoy big sunglasses.  and thanks to corey hart, i can wear them at night, too.
